Motor City DB Poised to Grab Early Offers
Detroit, Michigan’s Sheldon Doss presents one of best packages I have seen from a raw sophomore DB prospect. Standing 6-1 and tipping the scales at 185lbs, Doss is a big physical cornerback who can also move (4.50 40 yard dash): He is blessed with the kind of fluid hips and quick reaction timing that allows for him to stay glued on a receiver throughout a route. Even more impressive for a young CB is that Doss is equally effective at playing off the line scrimmage as he is at jamming and riding a receiver on the line. Topping things off—Doss can play the run, too, a solid tackler that attacks the ball carrier.
The D Zone, a publication that covers Michigan high school sports, has listed the University of Detroit Jesuit High School CB as one of the Class of 2015 Prospects to Watch in 2013.
Playing in the State of Michigan’s top division in football and arguably its toughest conference, Sheldon will have plenty of opportunities to shine in 2013. If he masters the challenge in 2013, look for FBS schools to start offering.
